Mrs. Melanie Lorick
Instructor: Melanie Lorick

  Meet the Teacher

My name is Melanie Lorick.  This is my 15th year teaching kindergarten at Batesburg-Leesville Primary School.  I have been married for nine years.  My husband's name is Ken.  We have an eight year-old son named Jackson and a four year old son named Michael.  I have lived in Batesburg-Leesville all of my life.  I graduated from The University of South Carolina with a BA in Early Childhood Education and from Columbia College with a Masters Degree in Divergent Learning.  I am certified in  both Early Childhood and Elementary Education.

My philosophy of teaching is  that no matter how a child comes into my classroom,it is my job to love, nurture and make them the bright “stars” they are capable of being..  Children are the most precious gifts we are given.  They need love and support to allow them to grow socially, emotionally, physically, mentally, and academically.  I compare teachers to “star polishers.”  Teachers polish and shine students allowing them to reach their individual potentials.  To me, this is the ultimate goal of education.

My teaching assistant is Jessica Reyes.  Mrs. Reyes did her student teaching in the Spring of 2011 with Mrs. Miles.  She was hired in the fall as the computer proctor in the upstairs lab.  Mrs. Reyes is a wonderful assest to our school.  She is a fun, kind, and loving person.  Mrs. Reyes and her husband live in Saluda.

BOX TOPS!
Our school is collecting box tops this year.

Please look for box tops on the food you buy at any store.  Cut out the box top and put your child's first and last name on each box top.  You may send the box tops in a ziploc bag to school.  The box tops will go into a hat and at the end of every month a name will be drawn and that child will recieve a prize.  This is a great and easy way to help our school raise money.  Please visit the link below to register.
